I sometimes feel that businesses are just passing the buck by getting us to do the work for them. Twice recently I had a loan agreement form required to be witnessed by a JP. Under the JP section the JP was to certify that the borrower had read and understands the terms of the agreement. That is not my job to ensure the many-page agreement has been explained to the borrower and to ensure he or she understands what he or she is signing. My job is to witness the signature. This fact should be brought to the attention of loan companies.
